A few months ago I wrote of my intention to use Create Space for the reprint of my novel, Brute Heart. I want to share with all of you how pleased I am with the results. The interior design, although simpler than my first printing, works
for someone like me who doesn’t embellish her pages with sketches, unusual fonts, etc. I
made one tiny correction—the font size of the headline on the dedication page—which
they quickly changed, and then sent me another proof.
The cover, which is the same except for the back
copy, looks great, and now that I’ve seen it, I prefer the glossy finish over the original matte.
Only time will tell if a glossy cover makes a difference in sales. :)
As for the bottom line, Create Space is also a
less expensive way for me to order copies when I want to sell them myself. The
total cost per book of the first printing of Brute Heart was $8.73. Since I had those books printed locally,
there was no shipping included. Not counting a minimal cost for prep
work, the Create Space copies cost me $5.32 apiece including shipping.
Needless to say, I am extremely happy with Create
Space as a self-publishing resource! If I had used them from day one, I would
have saved myself a boatload of money.
